David Johnson, Dancer

David Johnson, Dancer of Convergence Ballet Dance Company Biography Youthful, vibrant, and curious David has a myriad of interests. Self-described as a student, philosopher,film dabbler, writer as well as a dancer he is forever seeking new ways of expression. David began his training with Steven Chatfield, Walter Kennedy, John Grensbeck, and Amy Stoddart, Gina Bolles, and Val Ifil in Oregon. He then moved to Tucson to continue studying at the University of Arizona he has had the opportunity to perform the works of Sam Watson, Douglas Nielsen, Susan Quinn, James Clouser, Wade Walthall, George Balanchine's "Four Temperaments" and Donald McKayle's "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulders", act as the choreography assistant and rehearsal director for "Time-Space" performed as part of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company farewell tour, and attended workshops with Cedar Lake Contemporary Dance Company, Sherry Zunker, and Ann Reinking. David has performed professionally with Moving People Dance Santa Fe and ConDanza. He has also choreographed on the UA dance ensemble, presented choreography Pima Community College, and ConDanza where he serves as resident choreographer.
